Inside The Thai — Bar & Restaurant, Shawlands

About Us

A love letter to Thailand, written in Glasgow

The Beginning

It started in a Muay Thai gym

For twenty years, our owner Robert travelled to Thailand to train in the country's national sport, Muay Thai, at professional level. Between sessions came the discovery that changed everything: street stalls, family kitchens and night markets serving food unlike anything back home — bold, balanced and made with pride.

He fell in love with the culture and its cooking, and made a promise to bring both back to Glasgow. The Thai — Bar & Restaurant is that promise kept: a corner of Shawlands where the flavours, warmth and hospitality of Thailand feel close enough to touch.

The Kitchen

Led by Head Chef Patryk

A dish from Head Chef Patryk's kitchen

Our menu is a celebration of authentic Thai flavours, crafted by chefs with more than thirty years of combined experience — many of whom trained in Thailand. Leading that kitchen is Head Chef Patryk.

Under his direction every dish balances traditional recipes with innovative flair: curry pastes pounded in-house, herbs used generously, and each plate finished with the attention to detail Thai cooking deserves.

Our Values

Community and sustainability, on every plate

We're proud to belong to the Shawlands community. We source from local suppliers wherever possible, minimise kitchen waste, and use sustainable packaging — because a great meal shouldn't cost the earth.

Whether you're a lifelong fan of Thai food or trying it for the first time, we'd love to welcome you. Join us for an evening and taste what a Best Thai Restaurant in Scotland award is made of.
